In collaboration with the South-West CDC and Fei Yue Family Service Centre (Bukit Batok), our school carried out a VIA activity (making of Chinese New Year food hampers for the underprivileged residents) with our pupils.
On 12 February 2014, Mr Willy Tan, Principal, our Vice-Principals, staff volunteers, along with our P4 and P5 pupil volunteers delivered 41 hampers to Fei Yue Family Service Centre (Bukit Batok). These hampers were made by our teachers and pupils on two consecutive Wednesdays, 28 January and 4 February 2014 during their Form Teacher Guidance Period (FTGP). Besides the 41 hampers, the additional donated food items would also be distributed to the other residents. We hope to spread the joy of Chinese New Year by providing the residents with a better start to the New Year.
Through this activity, pupils learnt to work as a team in designing hampers, making of greeting cards, taking photos using an iPad and editing the photos to create a collage. Pupils’ reflections on their learning were thus captured in the collage. Our pupils also learnt how they could contribute to society and show care and concern for others during this festive season.
With these hampers, we would like to extend our hearts of service to the underprivileged residents in the Bukit Batok district.
